Ebor or Ebore?

Ebor or Ebore?

Summer racing isn’t over quite yet and today kicks of the Ebor meeting at York. I’ve traditionally done OK at this festival each year so I am looking for something above average this week.

The Ebor meeting can yield some good results, but nothing is ever guaranteed and this meeting can be a bit random at times so it’s probably not going to be all plain sailing. It should be better than what we have been seeing recently though.

York Dante Meeting

York Dante Meeting

After a successful Chester meeting we roll onto York for the Dante meeting this week.

The York card looks good with plenty of group racing, but the other stuff on the card today looks a little ‘testing’. For a direct comparison look at the prize money. Kempton has a grand total of £18.4k, York £191.5k. I’ll be cautious and use small stakes at the smaller meetings as a result.

York Ebor meeting

Summer racing isn’t over quite yet and today kicks of the Ebor meeting at York. I’ve traditionally done OK at this festival each year so I am looking for something above average this week. Liquidity is usually quite good at York and I suspect I can get something decent out of some of these races.

Some decent races, some decent horses and a decent meeting should add up to a decent opportunity this week if you are trading.

Anyhow, Good …

The York card looks good, but the other stuff on the card is a bit testing’. I’ve never managed to consistently pull out any massive totals from this York meeting in the past, but today has got off to a good start so maybe this is the year!

Racing steps up a gear

Racing steps up a gear

Nice looking card today with Newbury, York and Newmarket then Aintree in the evening. So I’m rubbing my hands at the prospect of some more action today.

The better quality racing has been quite good this week, the other stuff in-between not so great. But I’ve managed to pull out the odd decent result while avoiding the worst of things. It’s noticeable recently though, particularly since mid April, that trying to get an order filled on the weaker betting markets …

Trading Frankel

Trading Frankel

Not as easy at it sounds, as expected. But I did get something from the race. Mainly, as expected again, on Betdaq. In fact Betdaq was pretty favourable yesterday. I think today’s card overall looks a little more interesting and varied, so I’m hopeful of a decent day today.

Frankel’s market was characterised by a drift before the off. I was a bit surprised to see this, but it did also happen at Goodwood. You would have thought people would …

York Ebor meeting

York Ebor meeting

An interesting start to the meeting with the return of Frankel.

It’s nice to see Frankel getting out again today, it generates some real interest in racing just as the evening racing draws to a close. Have to say though, it won’t help make the trading day any easier. I think it’s a tricky start to the meeting and there are not many clear cut opportunities across the card. Hopefully I can find some in the run up to each …

Rome, York, Kiev

Rome, York, Kiev

Back to the fold today and have been watching the Masters Tennis in Rome with much interest. It’s thrown up some good matches already and the ‘non-blue’ clay should give us some clues for the French Open. Murray’s match with Nalbandian yesterday had some great opportunites in it.

The Rome masters is a good place to get some practice in before the French open. Typically players will use it for the same reason as well, but be aware of retirements. …

EBore & the sack race

EBore & the sack race

The York EBOR moved this year to a Saturday and as a consequence it killed it from a trading perspective. Chester races were only five minutes in front of York and Chester did it’s best to ruin York all day saving the best for the feature race by going off only 38 seconds before the big race at York. Racing UK got in about five seconds of coverage and most of that was covered with a graphic of the odds. …

Summer racing isn’t over quite yet and today kicks of the Ebor meeting at York. I’ve traditionally done OK at this festival each year so I am looking for something above average this week. I’m going to give Betdaq a good go this week at York as liquidity is rising and I suspect I can get something decent out of some of these races. I’m keen to get some decent practice in. York

Looking forward to some quality at York today. It seems racing is lacking a lot of quality this recently, volumes are not great and underlying liquidity poor, so I am keen to get stuck into some decent stuff.

There are a few threads on the forum about York in previous years. We have noticed that patterns often repeat in racing meetings so it will be interesting to see if the same happens again. I navigated yesterday without any errors, but …

Eboring

Eboring

OK the racing has been entertaining, but the trading has been less fulfilling and lacked a bit of spark about it. This is probably due to a participant(s) in the market that is causing grief for quite a few traders.

On Tuesday I seriously underperformed in light of this activity, but on Wednesday I turned it around having monitored the activity. I think that’s the problem with this tactic, it is easily exposed. We put the autotrading spreadsheet on …

Picking up speed

Picking up speed

Yesterday was a big improvement on the first day of the York. I was desperately trying to top £400 for the Ebor but just couldn’t quite pull it off in the end. Trading conditions this week seem to be ‘good to firm’. It looks to be shaping up for a good August, which is great, as I’m keen to see a good end to the summer racing season. Things go downhill from here!

Monday saw the end of the evening …

Good week assured

Good week assured

There are not many weeks when I can start by saying I will definitely thrash last year, but this week I can say that.

Last year we lost York to the weather, endless rain and then some. It put paid to York’s big week. You can read the full story and my comments on last August by clicking here.

It wasn’t a fun time and I am really looking forward to getting stuck in this week, more so because my …
