May Bank Holiday isn’t all about sports

May bank holiday doesn’t actually scream trading on sports markets for me. It pulls me in a different direction….

Long before I started trading on sports markets I spent a lot of time and effort on financial markets and that eventually led me to the Berkshire Hathaway AGM in Omaha Nebraska.

Until I got too busy on sports markets; the first weekend in May, the Bank Holiday weekend, was traditionally the time I would hop over to the US to visit friends, catch up on things and head over to Nebraska.

I’ve skipped the AGM in recent years, but as financial markets are more scaleable than sports markets; the pull back is insatiable. So trips to the US are increasing in frequency again. The AGM has changed a bit since then. Too many people go now for Buffett to meet the international shareholders them personally and you have to submit questions now.

Still worth going though, for the party atmosphere and for the people you meet. Many of which have changed my life and my outlook on it. All of whom I am honoured to now call my friends.

With the Bank Holiday coming around again this year, I’ve remastered this presentation I did I few years ago for Shares Magazine about my visit to the AGM. I wrote for Shares magazine for quite a few years. OK it’s at a tangent to recent videos, but I thought you may enjoy seeing the other side of me.
