It’s that day of the year that you either love or hate. The August bank holiday in the UK brings  a whole bunch of racing, all on the same day.

There will be lots of meetings on today and about a billion races. This may seem like heaven for some, but it’s a nightmare for others. Quite a few races will attract little liquidity, a lot isn’t of quality and many races will clash meaning that you can’t do much on them. The day usually does throw up the odd opportunity though. But I’m getting more relaxed with time, so while I’ll be here looking for an opportunity. I’ll be doing other stuff as well.

As the evening comes into play we now also have the US Open tennis. First matches off at 16:00 UK time. I’ll skip that today, enjoy some time with the family and start in earnest tomorrow. Also the little matter of Man Utd vs Chelsea, looking forward to that.

Whether you choose to enjoy the sun or the racing, Tennis or football, good luck whatever your choice!

I left a good job in the consumer technology industry to go a trade on Betfair for a living way back in June 2000. I've been here ever since pushing very boundaries of what's possible on betting exchanges and loved every minute of it.
