Marc Leishman was the suprise mover on day one and came in from 720 to 65 returning £100.77 on a £10 stake. Plenty of other movers from the hundreds to the top of the leaderboard including David Lynn whose 2nd in the US PGA meant he was surprised to realise he had qualified for the Masters. A pretty good round for a Masters rookie. The market however is not over discounting the chance of some of these movers, Lynn was rewarded with a price of 120 for the tournament after his first round.

As I suspected Tigers dominance in the market has flattened some of the moves from biggers prices and with the pins set up in a reasonable position and the weather good, most of the top players – who have played at Augusta a lot – have held there own near the top of the leaderboard. This has crushed a lot of good trading moves from the rest of the book and positive movers were in the minority at 21/93. Woods played well through the front nine and set himself up well before losing it a bit late on. Justin Rose performed well and Sergio Garcia put himself in with a shout, but has always faded in the majors. Rory McIlroy didn’t really go anywhere on day one but only slipped a little in the odds. Last years champion Bubba Watson faded to three over and could miss the cut.

Day two is going to be interesting. I’ve been keeping an eye on the weather and there is the possibility of distruption today so that will mean that tee times and local weather are likely to be very important today. So this morning I am looking at tee times and keeping an eye on local weather to aid my trading.
