Good old Barney Curley

25/07/2012 | By More

Flicking through the racing today I noticed three Barney Curley runners on the card. Whenever a Curley runner is on the card it’s interesting; when there are three, even more so.

Barney Curley has a long history of landing a gamble. One of hte most famour was the the Yellow Sam betting coup and more recently another in May 2010.

Because of this Curley runners usually attract a lot of attention in the market. People fear they may be losing out on the next gamble and chase the price all over the place. They have ended up become a self fulfilling prophecy. Regardless of whether a gamble is on or not, the market behaves like it is. For gamblers it can be difficult to read exactly what is happening, but for traders is great fun. Traders love volatile markets and one thing that is predictable with a Curley runner, is that the market is pretty likely to be volatile. If you visit the Bet Angel forum there is a thread devoted to these runners. Enjoy…
