You think Donald Trump is bad!

There has been lots of discussion about Donald Trump’s rants of a mad man recently. So here are some more: –

A CASINO IN EVERY SMARTPHONE – LAW ENFORCEMENT IMPLICATIONS

https://oversight.house.gov/hearing/a-casino-in-every-smartphone-law-enforcement-implications/

This was the hearing that was called  when the DOJ OLC reversed a long-standing policy by declaring that the Wire Act applied only to sports betting and not all forms of betting. This policy reversal potentially ‘opens the door’ for online gambling in all 50 states.

Mexico 1 – 0 USA

Mexico 1 – 0 USA

I’ve written about this sort of stuff before on the blog, but given my location at the moment it’s worth visiting it again. I’ve added a video at the bottom to bring home the point a bit more this time.

I would like to trade this week, but I’m going to move location to do it. I’ve shifted out of LA and down the coast to cross the border. It’s only a couple of hours from LA and from San …

Betfair US – California HQ

Betfair US – California HQ

As you know I’m in la la land at the moment and it’s not the first time I’ve been here. Having worked for a couple of US companies in my time and thanks to my interest in Warren Buffet et al, I’ve often popped over here to do something or another most years since the early 90’s.

When Betfair started taking off in the UK I was quite interested in seeing how legislation would play out over here. To give …

Trading Tennis – The US Open

Trading Tennis – The US Open

While the summer evening racing markets have finished, thanks to the US Open tennis there is still plenty to do in the evenings at the moment; as long as it’s not raining! It’s raining at the moment,  which is why I thought I would pen this post.

Because of the time difference to the US, it is a really useful tournament to trade and the level of interest in a grand slam will ensure good liquidity. It’s a good opportunity …

US PGA – The cut

US PGA – The cut

Now that’s more like it!

Tiger Woods is still playing well and in contention, things would be better without that. But on day two a number of players came in from the cold to put in some good rounds and still themselves near the top of the leaderboard and much shorter in odds. We have the weather to thank, almost an inch of rain fell overnight and strong winds blowing in from the sea made the course incredibly tough. So …

US PGA Golf

US PGA Golf

I’m currently working a few positions into this market.

I like the US tournaments because you can benefit from decent liquidity in the run up to the start without having to get up a ridiculous O’clock in the morning.

No major movers at the moment, Lee Westwood has drifted a bit. Rory McIlroy looks a little short to me. OK he has an incentive to win, but his form has been a little erratic since his first major. It’s not …

Full tilt poker was a Ponzi scheme

Full tilt poker was a Ponzi scheme

I’ve been following this story for a while and listening to the rumours but now US authorities have come out and mentioned the P word.

“US authorities have accused the owners of online gambling site Full Tilt Poker of operating a huge Ponzi scheme that defrauded players out of $440m (£289m).”

US PGA Golf

Positive movers from the US PGA from open to the close of day one. Some big movers in there delivered a lot of profit on day one. It’s been a busy day in Atlanta:-

Zenyatta – History not made

Zenyatta – History not made

A real disappointment to see Zenyatta not make history this evening. But an odd ride by the jockey who was trailing by some distance for most of the race and only produced Zenyatta on the last bend. While I can’t claim to be a jockey or understand racing that well, with such a huge prize on offer, it seems odd to have ridden the race like that.

Pretty liberal use of the whip late on as well as it was …

England’s fate already known

England’s fate already known

When England step out onto the pitch this evening they will know what they need to do. If the USA get a good result against Slovenia, then England really need to dispatch Algeria with confidence. If not it all goes to the last game. I say this because the English will probably want to avoid the impressive Germans. No point in holding out for a draw in the knockout phase is there?

The US are priced at 2.20 goals against …

USA 1 – 0 England

USA 1 – 0 England

Not a premonition but a recollection of times gone past. Until England drew the US in the group stages I wasn’t even aware of this episode of sporting history. It seems England have always been under-performers, but perhaps were a bit unlucky on this occasion. You would get 17’s for a repeat performance tonight.

Electrifying end to the US Masters

Already green I am sat down enjoying the final day of the masters and there is some fantastic golf being played. It could be a really exciting finish if this level of play is kept up. Great stuff.
