Spain vs Italy

An interesting set up for the final. I’ve had a really busy week, again, so I’ll be taking it easy and will trade pre-off, but sit down and watch the match.

The match is priced for just over two goals with an extra 0.40 going to Spain. It’s basically saying you have two even teams but Spain are effectively at ‘home’.

I know I often post this sort of comments, but I’m not sure if people pay much attention to …

Croatia 2 Spain 2 ?

Croatia 2 Spain 2 ?

Some of you with long memories may recognise this scenario from Euro 2004. Back then Denmark and Sweden need a 2-2 draw to ensure they progress to the knockout phase of the tournament at the expense of Italy. Remarkably the game ended 2-2 to howls of protests from the Italians.

Wind forward to 2012 and we have a similar situation. However, Croatia and Spain have tried to quash conspiracy theorists who suggest the two sides would settle for a …

Now Spain says yes and no to Betfair

Betfair confirmed today that thier exchange will be unavailable in Spain from early June upon receipt of a new gaming license.

It seems Betfair have been granted a licence for a sportsbook and will ‘transfer’ exchange customers to the sportsbook. Mission impossible

Mission impossible

Scotland travel to Spain this evening in an attempt to pull off the biggest shock in Euro qualification history with a win in the world champions back yard. Before we completely dismiss their chances, lets look at the some stats.

The market is pricing in a dominant Spanish performance with Spain coming out winners by at least two goals on average. In the past there have been some big wins in matches like this, but also a few shocks. Overall …

Going Dutch

Going Dutch

This isn’t a pick! I think the Spanish have done a good job so far tactically and may test the Dutch defence in a way it hasn’t been tested so far this World Cup. This is a reference to what I will be aiming to do this afternoon. I have Dutchand German friends just round the corner from where I live, but as the German’s didn’t get to the final I will be going Dutch for the final. As I …

Germany vs Spain

Germany vs Spain

The market is priced for 2.40 goals or thereabouts with a 1.20 goals to Spain. The Germans have stormed through to the semi final whereas the Spanish appear to have ground out results but both teams slipped up in the group stages.

Some interesting notes I’ve copied from elsewhere: –

  • Victory at Euro 2008 was only Spain’s second win in eight competitive games against the Germans.
  • Germany are unbeaten in three previous World Cup games against the Spanish.
  • Overall, the
