Football – And so the hard work begins…

I failed in the ballot in my attempt to get tickets for the European Champions league final at Wembley today, such is life. I thought I may slip into some hospitality somewhere, till I saw the cost! It’s funny really, because I thought going to watch the Monaco Grand Prix would cost an arm and a leg. But on researching that, it seems I can still do that cheaper than the hour journey to Wembley! So Monaco will be on the cards for next year. But hey, today I can watch both in the comfort of my own home with about a billion different angles on the action!

The ECL final will draw a complete close on the football season for me and I can now rest on one front but not on another. For it is during the off season for sports that I tend to focus on research. If you want a hint at the secret behind being good at anything, it’s simple. Good old fashioned hard work! With the footy season over I can start sifting through all the data I collected over the course of last season to analyse it in-depth. Of course I’ll dip in and out of things during the season, but it is during the off season that I can trawl through all the data in real depth and get ideas ready for next season and correct mistakes and errors of the past season.

I liked the look of Dortmund after their performance in group stages of the champions league, but hadn’t really felt they could go all the way. I tend to have a poorer record at neutral venues but looking forward to enjoying the increased liquidity before the off to try and get myself in a decent position before the match starts. It I can squeeze something decentĀ out of the pre-off market, them I put that to use in-play. If not, I’ll enjoy the football! It’s interesting to compare the liquidity on this match andĀ the FA Cup, so far apart now!

The market is forecasting an above average number of goals for the match nearly 2.90. Bayen Munich are, obviously, favoured and the market is pricing them with a 0.70 goal advantage or thereabouts. So that’s better than home advantage! So the market is telling us that it will not be as tight a match as the pundits are talking up.

Good luck if you are on the match tonight.
