Champions league

An interesting set up for tonights Champions league.

The market thinks there will be around three goals a game on average this evening and total of 21. I’m not so sure?

An average of three goals is often forecast when there is a clear winner, but that really doesn’ t look the case tonight. The least competitive matches are Spartak Moscow vs Barcelona, FC Nordsj vs Shakhtar and Benfica vs Celtic. But of course, as Celtic have proven, that odds doesn’t count for much this year. Celtic now have this wonderful momentum they haven’t experianced before in this competition.

The English clubs are stuttering and Man Utd lost surprisingly this weekend. Not sure they are going to get an easy ride in Istanbul. I actually went to Istanbul for a wedding last year and stayed just aroud the corner from Galatasary’s old stadium, I had to visit it. I can’t imagine what it’s like when it’s packed full of partisan supporters! They are now in a new stadium with bigger capacity and I can imagine what it would be like being there. On March 18, 2011, it recorded 131.76 decibels which is considered a world record as ‘loudest crowd roar at a sport stadium’ according to the Guinness World Records. For once, not hearing the whistle may be a legitimate excuse in the match this evening!

Overall, I think this is a mixed but interesting bag this evening. I’m looking to favour tense affairs.
