Boxing day markets

Boxing day markets

So we are at Christmas and everything, apart from your wallet probably, took a break. Now it’s back with a bang on Boxing day.

Putting aside the cricket and the packed football fixture list, there are eleven race meetings today with 769 runners.

The problem you have on days like this is that the races fall all over each other and before one has finished another has already started. They are also generally lower quality and less interesting as betting

Boxing day

So we are at Christmas and the sports schedule in the UK thinned out into the run up to Christmas day. Everything, apart from your wallet probably, took a break. Now it’s back with a bang on Boxing day.

Last year, even with two meetings abandoned there were still a total of 11 race meetings in the UK and Ireland and a total of 720 runners over 72 races! This year we face a total of 79 races, 24 of …

Mission not impossible

Mission not impossible

So, after a tough day yesterday we look forward to an easier task today. Some reasonable quality about and of course we have Sprinter Sacre on the card. There are also a sensible amount of races.  Saturday looks promising on the racing front.

With hindsight, always a wonderful thing, yesterday didn’t go too badly for me. So as a matter of record I should blog that for a better reflection next year. But I think one thing that did trick for …

Boxing day bonanza?

Boxing day bonanza?

Hope you had a good Christmas, we are back with a bang today.

It’s a another boxing day holiday in the UK and the sports schedule will be stuffed full of fixtures, meetings and all manner of sporting events. On racing, even with one meeting abandoned there will be 80 race in the UK and Ireland today.

That’s sounds like heaven to sports traders, but it can be a bit of a nightmare. So many things happening at once often …

Full blown all out chaos

Full blown all out chaos

There you go, that’s my prediction for today’s racing markets.

A total of twelve racing cards are unleashed on the markets today and that means that it will be clash city.  No sooner has one race started than another starts, while another one will complete. It’s going to be chaotic. There are a total of 78 races on the card, but 34 have scheduled off times the same as another race. As if that’s not enough you can throw in …

Some winter cheer

Some winter cheer

One look at the racing card will echo what you will have seen for the last month or so, abandoned racing. It’s the worst period I have known in my ten years on Betfair, pretty bleak. Boxing day usually brings a whole slew of opportunity and some top quality action at Kempton. Today, out of the 11 meetings due to take place today, only one hasn’t been abandoned as I write this, and there is a real prospect of that …
