Nice to see Cheltenham on the card again, but with the first two races containing a total of nine runners, I’m not getting that excited about the jumps just yet.<\/p>\n

Traditionally\u00a0the end of the flat season<\/a> is the November handicap at Doncaster. This falls on the 9th of November this year. But tomorrow being champions day at Ascot<\/a>, will more or less be a celebration of the flat season.<\/p>\n

The forecast for tomorrow is better than I expected but it will still be unsettled and perhaps errant. This could be a factor tomorrow as your can’t ‘unwater’ ground. Though it looks at the moment that the bulk of the rain will arrive on Sunday. Not so fussed about that!<\/p>\n

Champions day aside the end of the flat and start of the Jumps season can be a bit erratic so I scale back stakes and play it safe to navigate through what are traditionally choppy markets. If you search the blog around this time each year<\/a> you should be able to see prior comments on the same period.<\/p>\n

Where you get poor quality racing and \/ or form lines are weak, people have a tendency to change their mind a lot more and that’s what you are seeing at the moment. Also people don’t tend to commit as much to the market in this state.<\/p>\n

But putting that to one side, I’m looking forward champions day<\/a> tomorrow.<\/p>\n
