Total matched bet turnover at post time was \u00a313.9m vs \u00a315.6m last year, down 11%. But some of this will be due to the fact we didn’t have a really short priced favourite in the field. Today should give us a more representative day.<\/p>\n
Yesterday was a little erratic and no clear trading characteristics came out of it. The first day of big meetings I tend to ‘play around’ a little in the market to test things and that went pretty well, no records, but I have done much worse\u00a0! So today is the real day to step up to action.<\/p>\n
As part of my preparation today I did some chillaxing in the sun this morning. I went to the Gym and it was such a fab day outside I went for a bike ride. I only intended going for a few miles but did a ‘Forrest Gump’ and just couldn’t stop hacking up the tow path on the Canal. I ended up being gone for the best part of four hours! I find excercise theraputic so it was a fab start to the day.<\/p>\n
Today is all about big field and big prices, topping out at 16:25 with a 30 runner starting at 13’s. Today is a day to be testing your scalping fingers as I doubt there will be much in the way of big moves in todays very competitive races. I expect some of the interim racing to throw up some larger moves. Yesterday the very first race at Ascot threw off a good move when ‘Animal Kingdom’ drfited significantly before the off, see the chart below.<\/p>\n
