Nice to see some flat turf racing underway and the weather improving. Things will get busier from here. In April the flat turf season really starts to kick in and the other meeting types decline, see the graphic. \"\"<\/p>\n

Aintree was the last chance of a decent total from a jumps meeting and it did oblige but in a grudging manner. I found Aintree much harder than in previous years, but that could have just been me. Markets shift subtly over time and I spend a great deal of time researching, prodding and probing to understand how things unfold and to try and predict how they will unfold. But sometimes you can’t quite predict how that will happen. But being an old hand at this I can usually dig something decent out of a card and from the feature races. You also shouldn’t forget it isn’t just about the Grand National, decent totals were available on other races. One pleasing thing this year is I telegraphed a decent trade during a radio interview early that morning. I’ll dig it out for you and upload it at some point.<\/p>\n

But for now we are on the cusp on evening racing and the prospect of a busy summer. So for the remainder of April I will spend my time tweaking refining and adjusting for the flat season ahead.<\/p>\n
