As you may know I’m bit of a stats man, but it’s a useful discipline. Monitoring your own activity can give you a useful insight into the markets and your activity on them. I spend at least a couple of hours a day either analysing\u00a0what I did yesterday, or some aspect of the market or\u00a0a strategy.<\/p>\n

The champions league matches give me a chance really get under the skin of the market. This is because the liquidity is higher than average and movement on the odds\u00a0typically low; therefore I can risk more money on them.\u00a0As my money gets matched it reveals the underlying structure of the market by telling who is on the other side \u00a0the book and how they are acting.<\/p>\n

I always find the results revealing because it shows that on a transactional cost basis I am very efficient and therefore you would think I was a ‘good’ customer of the exchange. \u00a0Last night one bet I placed, excluding those less than \u00a31, was matched by 75 other people. Effectively my order cost 75 times less to process than those counter parties. But also these stats just show you how little ‘big money’ was getting matched. It makes interesting reading.<\/p>\n
