We have a couple of classic divergences being display in full glory in the markets at the moment.<\/p>\n

In Melbourne we have the Australian open Tennis where, in a seeded tournament, the semi finals look like they will be played out amongst the top four seeds. Seeded tournaments are basically there to ensure the top competitors have every chance of meeting in the latter stages.<\/p>\n

In the UK, I just watched Bradford City complete a remarkable cup run to make the League Cup Final. While it’s\u00a0still a remarkable and fortuitous path, unseeded tournaments do set up the possibility, no matter how remote, for a team to get to the latter stages of a tournament. In the FA Cup where full strength teams are fielded, things are always fairly competitive, but in the ‘mickey mouse’ cup you can never be quite sure what team will be on the team sheet. So shocks like Bradford are not impossible.<\/p>\n

Bradford have been matched at odds up to 1000, but are now as short as 6.80. They still have one match to win the cup, but given their run so far, you wouldn’t put it past them!<\/p>\n
