A horses racing career is pretty short isn’t it?<\/p>\n

It’s not something I had appreciated until I learnt more about horse racing. But being so highly rated Frankel is now too valuable to continue racing. Instead he will spend the rest of his days trying to produce ‘Frankel junior’ at some point in the future. Though there is a possibility we may not see another similar horse for quite a few years.<\/p>\n

Undefeated in all 13 of his races, Frankel is now preparing for this 14th and final challenge today. The market is nervous and his price is on a gentle drift. The concern is all about the ground, which is described as soft this morning. I live just South of Ascot and there has been a lot of rain this week, I’d err on the side of heavy locally, but then I don’t have a groundsman or drainage in place in my garden!<\/p>\n

I’ve noticed in a lot of previous races that Frankel has always been short and then drifted a bit before the off. When the race was subsequently run you can’t help but think the price was generous. It wouldn’t be out of the question to expect the same pattern again today. One interesting market and angle on the race is the ‘How far’ will Frankel win market. The market seems to be plumping for around 5 lengths. You can also bet on this market for Frankel to lose. There are lots of opportunites out there today.<\/p>\n

I was tempted to go to Ascot today, but I’m still committed to being on the otherside of the screen. I keep doing that because you never know when the day will come when you can’t do it any more, for any number of reasons. I’m also keen to achieve the spectacular, not just good or great; that takes a lot of commitment. One person who is going today is the Queen, a\u00a0big racing fan so that will add more lustre\u00a0to a special day. Can’t wait to see how it unfolds.<\/p>\n

From a trading perspective, I imagine it will follow the pattern of previous Frankel races<\/a> and will be tricky to trade. But I’ve loaded up my account to give it a good go. Let’s hope for a decent result!<\/p>\n
