<\/p>\nHere is a neat insight into something that happens that you don’t realise the significance of at the time.<\/p>\n
Last November I went to the World ATP finals in London, I watched Berdych vs Tsonga. I was sat opposite the service line, a useful spot to watch a match when you are interested in some of the finer detail. The thing they caught my eye was how high Berdych threw the ball before he served. I took some photo’s of it at the time as I thought it would make a neat image.<\/p>\n
Wind forward, no pun intended, to the semi final with Murray and suddenly my observation comes into play. It was fairly easy to see both players were struggling with the tempestuous wind. Not only did it blow the ball about but towels, chairs, bags and all manner of things.<\/p>\n
My thought immediately turned to the serving styles of the players. I knew Berdych had an enormous throw and surely couldn’t use it in these conditions. At first it didn’t seem like this was the case but slowly he started to falter. Several abandoned attempts at a throw showed he wasn’t happy and eventually his serve slowed and Murray began to dominate the match.<\/p>\n
It’s funny how things work out\u00a0isn’t it?<\/p>\n
