<\/p>\nSo Glorious Goodwood is upon us.<\/p>\n
I used to live on the South Coast and Goodwood has always stuck in my memory as a very scenic and entertaining course to visit. Perched just north of Chichester, you can climb Knights Hill and get a great view from which to look down on the course and the wonderful surrounding countryside.<\/p>\n
If you fancy a round of Golf, the golf club is only just around the corner and is very enjoyable and well maintained. When you tee off on the ninth, your line down the fair is Chichester cathedral! It\u2019s a really great day out so if you get the chance, please go and visit it one day. Have some Golf in the morning and some racing in the afternoon.<\/p>\n
From a trading perspective I like multi day high quality meetings. They usually throw up some good opportunities and are a welcome addition to the month. As you may know, these higher quality meetings produce extra volume and that can change the characteristics significantly. But don\u2019t let Goodwood or anybody else fool you into thinking it\u2019s the same as a Royal Ascot or Cheltenham, it behaves very differently. It benefits from decent volume but it\u2019s not as much as some. Therefore it can be a little tricky at times to get exactly right. Last year, according to my stats, at post time it Goodwood turned-over just 40%, on average, of a typical Ascot race. That should give you some perspective. I’ll give you some more as the week progresses.<\/p>\n
I’ve often had mixed results at Goodwood in the past, though I did have a blinder last year, so Tuesday is my day for \u2018feeling\u2019 the market and testing its boundaries. I had a moral boosting weekend where I absolutely smashed through the card on both exchanges losing only 2 out of 49 races, so I\u2019m full of confidence; but I will maintain caution on day one at Goodwood.<\/p>\n
