It was back in 2006 on this Friday and Saturday that I attended the World Money Show with Betfair.<\/p>\n
It was a tough thing to do, as all around us we had all sorts of sexy stands and products owned by very slick and well funded financial types. The first problem was getting people to come to the stand, I remember arguing with a Forex trader who was critical of Betfair’s presence at the show. I tried to explain that we were there to talk about how to trade on sports markets in the same way spread bettors trade financial markets, but it was a lost cause!<\/p>\n
The stand was quiet until I did my main presentation at the show, at that point we were suddenly mobbed with people. I remember the presentation. It talked about my entry and exit points to a market and used a graph to show these. It was only later in the presentation I revealed we were looking at the 15:30 at Wolverhampton! In the afternoon I used Betfair live to show exactly what I was talking about, people were uttelry intriuged such a thing was possible.<\/p>\n
A lot has changed since then and I don’t think we would see Betfair at a financial show again, unless its Tradefair or LMAX. Back then there were also no transaction, data or premium charges. There was also an absence of all the other paraphernalia such as games that you now see the on the Betfair web site. I wonder what the landscape will look like in another four years?<\/p>\n
