A little while ago I saw a comment on OLBG’s site that I knew wasn’t true. So, as is my right, I made a comment to clear up any confusion. The author responded positively and kindly to my clarification\u00a0and all was good. A generally positive experience, I think I’ll come back again.<\/span><\/p>\n

Faffing about<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

A few months later I checked back and noticed the counter comment was gone, so I\u00a0tried to log into my account and post again. Various failed attempts later, I contacted OLBG’s support to get my account re-activated. After a lot of faffing about I still couldn’t get my account back, so I asked what had happened to my comment.<\/span><\/p>\n

More faffing followed and to cut a long story short the entire thread vanished. This seemed a little odd, so I queried it; but I wasn’t given much in the way of explanation or comment. I asked for my account back, but it wasn’t forthcoming and attempts to register a new one left me with the message that this account already existed and the circular loop continued. Eventually I gave up. Not coming back to the site now!<\/span><\/p>\n

I’ll happily comply with any policy related to a site I’m posting on and didn’t do anything odd on OLBG, merely cleared up a point that was made. I think it’s fair to say\u00a0I have a lot to offer any betting or trading community, but if they don’t want that, it’s no skin off my nose. I’ll happily continue on my way without dispensing 15 years of mega-profitability on a community \ud83d\ude42 Besides we have our own at www.betangel.com\/forum\/<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

A useful coincidence<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

I had pretty much forgotten about this experience and would have let it rest in anonymity until last Friday at Ascot, when I was speaking to another trader. Without prompting, he recounted more or less the same story, but OLBG actually told him they didn’t want him to post on the site at all.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It’s disappointing to see\u00a0another example of an industry that is geared to extract money from punters rather than help them. This often happens regardless of the stated aim of a site.\u00a0Commercial interests ride high in the industry it seems, which is fair enough; to an extent. When I came to the industry it was to change it for the better for punters. I didn’t want to dupe your average joe into placing a duff bet at bad prices to earn me money. I wanted to change the way they did things and give them a chance to make some money, that’s where I am coming from. That quest\u00a0continues!<\/span><\/p>\n

I think it’s a little cheap on consumers of content, if they are not told they are only being presented with a limited\u00a0view. In this day and age I don’t think you can get away with picking and choosing comments, else you will end up spending 24\/7 doing that to no avail. That’s the way the internet works. I have a light hand on censorship, I encourage opposing views to encourage debate. But anybody should\u00a0draw the line at abuse or defamatory remarks and the like. But banning somebody because they may say something you disagree with is not the way the internet works IMHO. I had to learn that, I’m sure others did too.<\/span><\/p>\n

If OLBG would like to comment I can assure you, your comment and this thread will not vanish and will be present for all to read. If you have an account, I’ll happily re-send you a\u00a0password reset \ud83d\ude09<\/span><\/p>\n
